Prepare for an unfolding the like of which you’ve never seen. In honor of the New Year SAFEWORD is presenting new HANDCRAFTED MUSIC to compliment the EFFORTLESS GENIUS of ELI HOPKINS on the night of FRIDAY THE 13th. ALL AGES, but come thirsty if you’re of age.
This EP is fun, and bright. It’s also contemplative and layered. I wanna thank everyone that inspired these experiences over the years. so much more to come (look out for the FALL EP, dropping along with the yellow and red leaves)
I CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH THAT THESE MUST BE DOWNLOADED AND PLAYED ON A REAL SYSTEM. IF YOU LISTEN TO IT ON COMP SPEAKERS YOU’RE DOING YOURSELF AN INJUSTICE
LOVE AND SHULA,
The sun is coming out, and so is our new mixtape. thought i would give a little taste to preview the new CRUEL SUMMER MIXTAPE dropping next week!
I had sooo much fun on this shoot! bopped around town till the day melted away (and what a beautiful one it was). Bunk Bar, then Lloyd Center (Michael got a fly new watch), then Wig-Land (Angela got a fly new wig), then Safehouse to meet up with Orion to jaunt around SE, Alyssa snap snap snapping all the way.
Naw but seriously, this girl’s got talent. Not braggin, but she makes me look good. Gotta give a shout to Erin Mackenzie for the intro, cuz Alyssa and Michael are great people. Enjoy the B&W’s on her blog: Alyssa Noches
This photograph changed my life. The photographer and I made music together. I’m drinking Maker’s Mark with Cherry Coke, stirring with a stale Red Vine. That same Red Vine would yank out the cap over the chip in my front tooth: a trademark I’d grow to accept. I was 19. The paper glasses somehow illustrate my lack of perception; being that I couldn’t find the fault in courting the photographers love interest. Meanwhile I’m working these shots, thinking about an exciting future; all but rubbing it in the face of this photographer. We’d become friends, and I didn’t know how to talk to him about my new crush…so I didn’t. Of course, he knew, and pulled the plug on our project before I’d have the chance to salvage any relationship with him. So this photo alone, is directly representative of a domino effect leaving me on the outs of a collective, buried in ego and addiction, and sorely in need of some creative outlets. This led to some of the best work I’ve written in my young life. I’m 22 now, and looking back it’s been a hell of an adventure.
